Can I have a payment plan?

We do not offer “in house” payment plans but we can arrange payment plans through VetPay and ZipPay.

Can I use my pet insurance?

Yes, Paws Plus Mobile Vets provides an itemised invoice ready for submission to your pet insurance company. We are also a certified GapOnly provider. If your claim is approved by GapOnly and your insurer, you only need to pay the gap, not the total invoice amount. What payment methods do you take?  We take Credit Card, and of course we offer payment plans through VetPay and ZipPay

Should my children be present during euthanasia of our pet?

Deciding if children should be present during a pet’s euthanasia is a very personal choice, with families having different views on what is best. Some parents opt to include their children in the room, while others prefer to wait until the pet has passed. Children aged 5-6 and older typically understand the process better when it is explained clearly and may demonstrate resilience and compassion. Very young children are often more influenced by their parents’ emotions than by the procedure itself. Parents should make this decision based on their child’s emotional maturity. Resources such as the Veterinary Wisdom Resource Centre can help children express grief in healthy ways. For further assistance, please reach out to Dr Ron for advice.

How should I prepare for the appointment?

For your first visit with Dr Ron and Paws Plus Mobile Vets, have your pet’s medical records, vaccination history, and other relevant documents handy. Prepare a list of symptoms and behavioural changes you want to discuss. Choose a quiet, well-lit area of your home for the examination. If you have other pets, arrange for them to be in another room during the exam. Have some of your pet’s favourite treats ready as rewards. If your pet is a cat, keep them indoors and confined to a safe space to prevent escape.

What if my dogs are aggressive, will you still see them?

It depends. Please inform us if your pet is aggressive. The vet will usually call you ahead of the appointment to discuss handling the situation, which may involve using muzzles and special handling techniques. The use of sedatives may also be discussed. The safety of you and the PawsPlus team is our primary concern, and we aim to conduct the exam with this in mind.

Do you see emergencies?

No, we are not equipped to handle emergencies at the moment. If your pet needs emergency treatment, please contact one of the emergency veterinary centres in Adelaide, such as:

Are there any cancellation fees?

You can cancel your appointment up to 24 hours before the scheduled time without any penalty. For cancellations made less than 24 hours before the appointment, we reserve the right to charge a fee, depending on the circumstances surrounding the cancellation. We understand that emergencies happen, so please contact us as soon as possible if you need to reschedule or cancel.

Will the Vet always be on time?

We strive to keep to our scheduled appointment times. However, occasionally visits may take longer than expected, as Dr Ron likes to ensure every patient receives the best care possible. If we are running late, we will call you to inform you of the delay. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

How does having a qualified veterinary nurse accompany the vet benefit my pet?

Having a qualified veterinary nurse accompany the veterinarian enhances the quality of care for your pet. The nurse assists with handling, monitoring, and performing specific procedures, making the visit more efficient and thorough. This collaboration reduces stress for your pet and allows Dr Ron to focus more on diagnosing and treating while providing uninterrupted time to answer your questions and discuss your pet’s health in detail. For elderly or disabled pet owners, the nurse’s presence ensures safer and easier handling of pets.
